While indispensable in our lives, water purifiers consume a surprising amount of energy and resources to produce clean water. Ice purifiers, in particular, have been criticized for their waste, consuming more water than the ice they produce, leading to widespread criticism. Conversely, warmer weather and increased convenience have led to a significant increase in demand and supply for ice purifiers, leading to the release of a diverse range of products. However, amidst this growing energy waste, a company is attracting significant attention for its innovative ice purifiers that reduce energy waste. We conducted an in-depth investigation into GSI (CEO Park Hyung-mi), the company behind this initiative.

Last year, a large company installed about 500 ice-cold and hot water purifiers at a military base, and it is estimated that about 5 million liters of purified cold water will be wasted annually, which is a huge waste. The loss is even greater when you consider the cost of supplying tap water, the cost of purifying it, the cost of energy used to cool the water, and the cost of sewage treatment. This is a huge waste of water resources as well as energy costs. On the other hand, GSI's large-capacity ice-cold and hot water purifier, IceRo, eliminates this wasteful water and energy consumption.

Equipped with a smart self-diagnosis feature that diagnoses and automatically repairs errors.

IceRo recycles the cold water that has been converted into ice after it is produced, reusing it as cold water for ice-making. This allows the water originally drained to be reused, reducing water waste costs and achieving energy savings through low-carbon production. Because it requires no drainage, it can be installed easily anywhere. It also offers an eco-friendly, fixed-volume water dispenser, which can be customized by the user. The numerous advantages of GSI's product, mentioned above, have been recognized by the government as an innovative, eco-friendly technology, designated as a "Hyundai Product" and are currently being piloted by numerous public institutions.

IceRo offers numerous other advantages. The IceRo uses cold water for ice-making. This saves energy during the cooling process required for ice-making, and allows for faster ice production. Furthermore, the Finger Ever, which generates ice, is constructed of stainless steel, resistant to contamination, corrosion, and bacteria, with a high level of hygiene and safety in mind. Furthermore, the water purification process is conducted over three to four stages to ensure proper purification. This four-stage process, which combines a Sedblock pre-carbon filter, a UF membrane fact filter, and a post-carbon block carbon filter, not only removes impurities and contaminants like microorganisms, but also ensures a smooth, delicious water.

Icero also incorporates several features that enhance user convenience. One of these is a real-time self-diagnosis function. This function monitors and identifies program errors in real time, minimizing the occurrence of problems and quickly identifying and resolving issues. Through self-diagnosis, the water purifier identifies and automatically repairs any issues. The water purifier is equipped with an automatic recovery program, which automatically repairs any errors identified during the self-diagnosis process, eliminating inconvenience and reducing the need for after-sales service. Additionally, the company has implemented an engineer mode to expedite service when actual after-sales service is required, reducing after-sales service times.

GSI (CEO Park Hyung-mi) is the first small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) to develop and launch a large-capacity ice water purifier, a product previously only produced by major domestic companies.

GSI's "Ice-ro Large-Capacity Ice Water Purifier" recycles purified water, typically discarded during ice production, saving water and energy, thereby achieving a low-carbon footprint.

Furthermore, its patented internal diagnostics and self-repair technology have dramatically reduced after-sales service requirements, earning it a positive market response. The cold water-based ice-making process also reduces ice-making time.

With a capacity of 7 liters of cold water, 8 liters of hot water, and 5 liters of ice, the device is directly connected to the water supply, making it ideal for use in multi-use facilities such as companies, businesses, government offices, and military bases. The device can be installed even in locations where drainage is impractical due to the lack of wastewater.

Furthermore, the device is the first to incorporate a self-dispensing function, allowing consumers to set their desired water volume.

GSI, which completed its development over two years and invested 1.5 billion won, anticipates positive business results, coinciding with the implementation of the military base ice water purifier rental budget starting this year.

The Icero recycles the cold water from ice production into ice and uses it as cold water for ice making. This allows for the reuse of water that would otherwise be drained, reducing the cost of water waste and achieving low carbon emissions through energy savings.

Since it requires no drainage, it can be easily installed anywhere and provides environmentally friendly, quantitative water dispensing. Recognized as an innovative, eco-friendly technology, it has been designated as an innovative product and is being used on a trial basis by various public institutions.

Made of stainless steel, resistant to contamination, corrosion, and bacteria, it prioritizes hygiene and ensures proper purification through three to four stages. The four-stage purification process, which combines a Sedbloc pre-carbon filter, a UF membrane fact filter, and a post-carbon block carbon filter, removes impurities and contaminants, including various microorganisms, while also ensuring a smooth, delicious water taste.

The "Korea Innovative Companies (Institutions/People) and Brand Awards" are hosted by the Herald Business and the Korea Herald and organized by Monthly Power Korea (publisher Baek Jong-won). The awards were established by the Herald Media Group to identify and promote companies, individuals, and brands that demonstrate distinctive innovations both domestically and internationally.

Held at the Korea Press Center, this awards ceremony honored 42 companies, organizations, individuals, and brands, including Seoul's Gangnam District, Gyeonggi Province's Guri City, Gyeonggi Province's Yeoncheon County Council, Starbucks Korea, GS Retail, Bio CNC Co., Ltd., Samwoo Metal Development Co., Ltd., Hanlim Tax Firm, All Vision Co., Ltd., Do Art Company, BTL Diet, and Tedoo Education Promotion Institute Co., Ltd. 최근 트렌드로 떠오르는 키워드 중 하나는 친환경과 에너지 절약이다. 그런 면에서 보면 정수기는 트렌드에 상당히 늦고 있는 제품이다. 우리 생활에서 없어서는 안 되는 정수기는 깨끗한 물을 만들기 위해 생각 외로 많은 에너지와 자원을 소모하며, 특히 얼음 정수기의 경우 얼음을 만들기 위해서 생산되는 얼음보다 더 많은 양의 물을 소모해 물과 에너지를 심하게 낭비한다는 지적이 잇따르고 있다. 그런 반면 나날이 더워지고 있는 날씨와 편리성으로 인해 얼음 정수기에 대한 수요와 공급이 크게 증가하면서 다양한 제품이 출시되고 있다. 하지만 이에 따른 에너지 낭비도 심해지고 있는 가운데, 에너지 낭비를 막고 혁신적인 기능의 얼음 정수기를 생산하며 많은 관심을 받는 곳이 있다. 본지에서는 그 주인공인 ㈜지에스아이(GSI, 대표 박형미)를 찾아 집중취재를 진행하였다.

자가진단을 통해 오류를 진단하고 자체적으로 복구하는 스마트 기능 탑재
아이스로는 얼음이 생성된 후 냉수가 된 물을 제빙 시에 순환 사용하고 냉수로 활용한다. 즉, 본래 배수되던 물을 그대로 다시 사용할 수 있도록 한 것으로 이를 통해 버려지는 물에 대한 비용을 절감하고 에너지 절약으로 저탄소를 실현해 낸다. 배수 설비가 필요 없기 때문에 어느 장소나 간단히 설치할 수 있으며, 친환경적인 정량 출수가 가능한데, 정량 출수 기능은 사용자가 직접 설정할 수 있다. 위에 언급한 ㈜지에스아이의 제품의 다양한 장점은 정부에서도 혁신적인 친환경 기술로 인정받으며, 현신 제품으로 지정되었고 현재 많은 공공기관에 시범 구매 되어서 사용되고 있다.
아이스로는 그 밖에도 다양한 장점을 보유하고 있다. 아이스로는 제빙 시에 냉수를 사용한다. 따라서 얼음을 만드는 데 필요한 냉각 과정에서 에너지가 절약되고, 더욱 빠른 속도로 얼음 생성이 가능하다. 이와 함께 얼음을 생성하는 핑거 에버를 제품의 위생과 안전을 고려하여 오염과 부식, 세균에 강한 스테인리스 재질로 제작하여 위생 면도 크게 신경을 썼으며, 정수 단계 또한 3~4단계에 걸쳐 제대로 정수되도록 했다. 세드블록 프리카본 필터와 UF MEMBRANE FACT 필터, POST CARBON 블록 카본 필터 복합 4단계로 이루어지는 정수 과정은 각종 미생물 등의 불순물과 오염원을 걸러내는 것은 물론 부드러운 물맛을 느낄 수 있도록 돕는다.
이 밖에도 아이스로는 사용에 편리성을 더해주는 몇 가지 기능을 더했다. 그중 하나가 실시간 자가진단 기능으로 실시간으로 프로그램의 오류를 감시하고 확인하여 문제 발생을 최대한 줄이고 빠르게 오류를 파악해 문제점을 확인하는 기능이다. 자가진단을 통해 정수기 스스로가 자기 문제를 확인하며, 동시에 자체적으로 오류를 자동으로 복구한다. 정수기 내부에는 자동복구 프로그램이 탑재되어 있으며, 이 프로그램을 통해 자가진단으로 파악한 오류를 자체적으로 복구해 사용할 때 불편함을 해소하는 것은 물론 문제가 발생할 시 번거롭게 A/S 신청을 하는 빈도를 줄여준다. 이 밖에도 실제 A/S가 필요할 때에도 더 빠르게 진행할 수 있도록 엔지니어 모드를 탑재하여, A/S 시간이 짧아지도록 했다.

아이스로는 현재 ‘냉수 7L, 온수 8L, 얼음 5L’의 초대용량 얼음 냉온정수기부터 ‘냉수 1.4L, 온수1.3L, 얼음 450g’의 가정용 소형 얼음 냉온정수기까지 다양한 제품을 생산하고 있다. 대용량 제품들의 경우 관공서, 군부대, 구내식당, 학교 급식시설 등 다양한 다중시설에서도 적극 사용되고 있으며, 현재 최근 이루어진 군부대 얼음 정수기 임차 예산의 집행을 통해 사업적으로 좋은 성과를 기대하고 있다.
㈜지에스아이는 해외에서도 기술력을 널리 인정받고 있는데, 일본 기업 닉실(Lixi Group)에서 요구하는 엄청난 스펙의 제품을 개발에 성공해 큰 화제를 모으기도 했다. 당시 35도의 상온수를 10도 이하의 냉수로 분당 1.2L씩 냉각시키는 기술이 적용되었다. 이 밖에도 싱가포르에 콤프레셔 방식으로는 세계에서 가장 작은 초소형 직냉 직온정수기를 수출했으며, 현재 두바이에서도 많은 관심을 받고 있는 등 글로벌 시장도 적극 공략해 나가고 있다.

최근 트렌드로 떠오르는 키워드 중 하나는 친환경과 에너지 절약이다. 그런 면에서 보면 정수기는 트렌드에 상당히 늦고 있는 제품이다. 우리 생활에서 없어서는 안 되는 정수기는 깨끗한 물을 만들기 위해 생각 외로 많은 에너지와 자원을 소모하며, 특히 얼음 정수기의 경우 얼음을 만들기 위해서 생산되는 얼음보다 더 많은 양의 물을 소모해 물과 에너지를 심하게 낭비한다는 지적이 잇따르고 있다. 그런 반면 나날이 더워지고 있는 날씨와 편리성으로 인해 얼음 정수기에 대한 수요와 공급이 크게 증가하면서 다양한 제품이 출시되고 있다. 하지만 이에 따른 에너지 낭비도 심해지고 있는 가운데, 에너지 낭비를 막고 혁신적인 기능의 얼음 정수기를 생산하며 많은 관심을 받는 곳이 있다. 본지에서는 그 주인공인 ㈜지에스아이(GSI, 대표 박형미)를 찾아 집중취재를 진행하였다.

㈜지에스아이는 얼음 정수기에 관련된 다양한 기술을 보유하고 있으며, 특히 대형 얼음 정수기에 관한 독보적인 기술력을 가지고 있다. ㈜지에스아이에서 직접 생산하고 있는 얼음 냉온정수기 ‘아이스로(icelo)’는 비용 절약부터 환경까지 한 번에 챙길 수 있는 고효율 친환경적인 기술이 적용되어 있다. 가장 큰 장점으로는 국내에서 유일하게 버리는 물이 없다는 것이다. 그리고 얼음을 만드는 과정에서 동시에 냉수를 생성 하는데, 이러한 기술은 국내는 물론 세계에서 유일한 기술이다. ㈜지에스아이 박형미 대표는 “대부분의 얼음 정수기는 얼음을 생성하는 과정에서 약 1:3 비율로 정수된 물을 버리고 있다. 1L의 얼음을 생성하기 위해 약 2~4L의 물을 배수하여 버리고 있는 셈이다. 하지만 당사의 제품은 버리는 물이 전혀 없다”라고 언급하며 설명을 더했다. 현재 시중에 유통되는 스탠드 얼음정수기의 경우 하루 제빙량이 약 10L 정도인데, 이는 제빙 과정에서 하루 20~40L의 물을 버리게 된다는 말이다.

GSI(대표 박형미)는 국내 대기업들만 생산하고 있는 대용량 얼음정수기를 중소기업으로는 처음 개발하여 출시했다.

GSI가 개발한 ‘아이스로 대용량 얼음정수기’는 얼음을 생성할 때 일반적으로 버리는 정수된 물을 재활용해 물과 에너지를 절약하므로 저탄소를 실현하고 있다.

또한 내부 진단기능과 자체 복구기능의 특허 기술을 적용해 A/S 발생을 획기적으로 줄여 시장에서 좋은 반응을 받고 있다. 냉수를 이용한 제빙방식으로 인해 제빙시간도 줄였다.

냉수 7리터, 온수 8리터, 얼음 5리터, 정수는 직수 방식으로 회사 또는 업소, 관공서, 군부대 등 다중시설에서 충분히 사용이 가능하다. 버리는 물이 없어 배수를 설치하지 못하는 장소에도 제약 없이 정수기를 설치할 수 있다.

또한 최초로 셀프정량 기능을 탑재해 소비자가 받고 싶은 물량을 직접 설정할 수 있다.

2년의 기간과 15억 원을 투자하여 개발을 완료한 GSI는 올해부터 시행되는 군부대 얼음정수기 임차 예산의 집행과 맞물려 사업적으로 좋은 성과를 기대하고 있다.

㈜지에스아이(GSI, 대표 박형미)가 나라장터 엑스포 2025에서 얼음 냉온정수기 ‘아이스로’를 선보였다.

지에스아이는 얼음 냉온정수기를 생산하고 있는 얼음 정수기 전문 기업이다. 얼음 정수기에 관련된 다양한 기술을 보유하고 있으며, 특히 대형 얼음 정수기에 관한 독보적인 기술력을 가지고 있다.

이번 전시회를 통해 선보인 얼음 냉온정수기 ‘아이스로(icelo)’는 비용 절약부터 환경까지 한 번에 챙길 수 있는 고효율 친환경적인 제품이다. 가장 큰 장점으로 버리는 물이 없는 제품이며, 얼음을 얼리는 과정에서 냉수를 생성 하는데, 이 기술은 국내는 물론 세계에서 유일한 기술이다.


박형미 대표는 “대부분의 얼음 정수기는 얼음을 생성하는 과정에서 약 1:3 비율로 정수된 물을 버리고 있다. 1L의 얼음을 생성하기 위해 약 2~4L의 물을 배수하여 버리고 있는 셈이다. 하지만 당사의 제품은 버리는 물이 전혀 없다”라고 언급하며 설명을 더했다.

아이스로는 얼음이 생성된 후 냉수가 된 물을 제빙 시에 순환 사용하고 냉수로 활용한다. 본래 배수되던 물을 그대로 다시 사용할 수 있도록 한 것으로 버려지는 물에 대한 비용을 절감하고 에너지 절약으로 저탄소를 실현해 낸다.

배수 설비가 필요 없기 때문에 어느 장소나 간단히 설치할 수 있으며, 친환경적인 정량 출수가 가능하다. 현재 혁신적인 친환경 기술로 인정받으며, 혁신 제품으로 지정되었고 다양한 공공기관에 시범 구매 되어서 사용되고 있다.

오염과 부식, 세균에 강한 스테인리스 재질로 제작하여 위생 면도 크게 신경을 썼으며, 정수 단계 또한 3~4단계에 걸쳐 제대로 정수되도록 했다. 세드블록 프리카본 필터와 UF MEMBRANE FACT 필터, POST CARBON 블록 카본 필터 복합 4단계로 이루어지는 정수 과정은 각종 미생물 등의 불순물과 오염원을 걸러내는 것은 물론 부드러운 물맛을 느낄 수 있도록 돕는다.

이 밖에도 실시간 자가진단 기능으로 실시간으로 프로그램의 오류를 감시하고 확인하여 문제 발생을 최대한 줄이고 빠르게 오류를 파악한다. 자가진단을 통해 정수기 스스로 문제를 확인하며, 자체적으로 오류를 자동 복구하여 번거롭게 A/S 신청을 하는 빈도를 줄여준다.

아이스로는 현재 ‘냉수 7L, 온수 8L, 얼음 5L’의 초대용량 얼음 냉온정수기부터 ‘냉수 1.4L, 온수1.3L, 얼음 450g’의 가정용 소형 얼음 냉온정수기까지 다양한 제품을 생산하고 있다. 대용량 제품들의 경우 관공서, 군부대, 구내식당, 학교 급식시설 등 다양한 다중시설에서도 적극 사용되고 있으며, 현재 최근 이루어진 군부대 얼음 정수기 임차 예산의 집행을 통해 사업적으로 좋은 성과를 기대하고 있다.

㈜지에스아이는 일본 기업 닉실(Lixi Group)과 싱가로프 등에 제품을 수출하고 있으며, 현재 두바이에서도 많은 관심을 받고 있는 등 글로벌 시장도 적극 공략해 나가고 있다.
